In all sports teams there is a necessity to develop: mental, physical, tactical, technical and lifestyle capacities of the team. This is what we refer to as total preparation and this is what we will help you with. We will run a series of total preparation workshops with your team and coaches to ensure everyone is educated on all the key areas of preparation and performance and that each of those areas is being continuously developed.
We provide mental conditioning so that athletes can perform to their maximum potential consistently regardless of situational or external pressures. Our experience with professional athletes gives us a very comprehensive exposure to the applied side of sport.
We design bespoke mental conditioning programmes tailored specifically to our clients’ needs.
We help athletes transition through the many phases of an athlete’s career. We have extensive experience of helping people in their transition from playing or participating in sport at the highest level to establishing a career that enables them to be fulfilled, engaged and financially independent. We can empathise with you and understand what you are going through from a mental, emotional, financial and social point of view as we have been through the translation ourselves.
Gerry Hussey has been working at the forefront of Olympic and international sport since graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 2003. In his role as performance consultant, Gerry has coached elite athletes for Olympic Games, Heineken Cups, European and world championships. Gerry brings an unrivalled wealth of honesty, experience and infectious passion gleaned form a rare ability to span sports from Golf to Sailing and Olympic Boxing to corporate coaching. Among his current clients are the Irish Olympic Boxing team, Munster Rugby, Olympic Sailing and a number of international athletes. His work with the Irish Boxing team at the very successful Beijing and London Olympic Games has been well documented and acclaimed. In recent years Gerry has implemented these performance systems with leading corporate brands and has created a unique system of performance that spans sporting, business and personal life. He is currently engaged with many Irish and international leading corporate brands.
Darren O’Neill is a 27 year old who represented Ireland in the London Olympic Games 2012 and was Captain of the Irish Elite boxing team. Darren has won four Elite National Championships to date and won a Silver Medal at the 2010 European Boxing Championships held in Moscow. Darren is a qualified coach and helps out in his home club in Paulstown. Here he designs the training programs and aids in promoting a positive environment for coaches and members. Hailing from Kilkenny, Darren has a wealth of experience within the GAA. In his playing career, Darren won 2 All-Ireland Hurling College Championships with the famed St.Kieran’s College and played both hurling and football at various levels for Kilkenny, up to and including an All-Ireland U-21 hurling medal in 2006. In his professional life, Darren is a qualified primary school teacher having worked in a Dublin school for three years before taking a break to concentrate on training for the Olympic Games. During his teaching break, Darren used this time to further his education and attained a Graduate Diploma in Sports Psychology. This proved valuable to augment his years of experience as an Elite athlete and dealing with people in sport, recognizing the importance of a healthy psyche.
Velocity Sport was set up by Ken Lynch in New Zealand in 2005, primarily with the functon of delivering service in the areas of Talent Identification and Development with the Peter Snell Institute of Sport. Since then, Ken has moved to Europe to work with the Irish Institute of Sport and a number of club, provincial, and professional organisations, teams and athletes/players across a number of areas of performance.
Ken, originally from Ireland, has a wealth of experience across Olympic and international with a sporting background in athletics and football. Ken has worked directly with numerous successful athletes and coaches coaches including Olympic, Paralympic, World and European medallists. He has had, and continues to have, a valuable insight and contribution into the world of high performance sport.
